Yes, you can have a healthy chocolate milkshake. The problem is that most milkshakes we have are filled with processed sugars and fatty dairy products. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Using organic almond milk is a great alternative to dairy. Plus; oats, banana and flaxseed blended up ads thickness for a creamy texture to your shake.
Raw Cacao is the best ingredient though. The health benefits of raw cacao are endless, ranging from; energy boosting, high antioxidants, anti-ageing benefits, helping with weight loss, improving digestion, protecting against sun burn, and even acting as an aphrodisiac! There are many vitamins and minerals in this wonderful superfood including vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, C, E and minerals like iron, zinc, potassium, manganese, calcium and more.
And before you say it; NO this does not mean you can eat all the chocolate in the world. It DOES mean you can eat lots of raw cacao though. Unfortunately most chocolates don’t actually contain much, if any raw cacao. But with this recipe you won’t even notice the difference. It tastes just like a chocolate milkshake!
Recipe:
2 cups of organic almond milk
2 ripe bananas
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3-4 soft pitted dates
1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed
1/2 cup of oats
2 tablespoons of organic raw cacao powder
Mix all the ingredients up in a blender, allowing the dates to fully break down. This will serve 2 people.
Enjoy for breakfast or morning tea.
