Why do you do yoga? Does your mat give you magical powers or is it something that YOU are doing when you step on the mat? The true power of your yoga practice comes directly from you. What you’re thinking, how you choose to feel at that moment, what you allow yourself to let go of, and what you open yourself up to feeling. If you step onto the mat holding onto your past, carrying with you ill feelings from the day or the week, then you’re not giving yourself the true experience of yoga. It’s all about your intention. What do you want to feel? What are you willing to let go of and where do you want your mind to focus? You have a choice and yoga gives you that opportunity. If you have a bad day you can come to class and choose to stew on it, or you can step onto the mat and consciously let it go. This is what yoga is all about! In fact, this means you can essentially step onto your mat and do nothing but change your mindset and be doing yoga! You don’t have to be the most flexible or the strongest, but if your mind is in the right place and you are practicing consciously, then you are already changing as a person. You are becoming a yogi!
